Solar Economics, Part 1: Photovoltaics Value ChainFact: Speaking of eclipses, the elements that make up your solar panels were once part of a star themselves
Whoa man, that’s trippy. But the fact is, all heavy elements (everything heavier than hydrogen and helium) are a result of the fusion process that occurs at every star’s core. I guess you could say solar power is...out of this world. (This is a quality dad joke and we stand by it).
In the last decade, solar has experienced an average annual growth rate of 68%.1 That’s more growth than the banking and healthcare industries, combined.
If that hasn’t blown your mind, then try this on for size. As a result of all that growth, consumers have been enjoying tremendous cost savings when it comes to purchasing solar panels. In just the last seven years alone, the cost to install solar has dropped by more than 70%.1 Pretty impressive, no?

Solar panels can be installed almost anywhere in the United States.
Most locations in the United States get enough sunlight to produce sufficient electricity from solar panels. The most important factors to consider when you evaluate your solar panel options are the rates you pay for electricity and the rebates and incentives available to you.
What Everybody Ought To Know About Solar In 2018hey I'm Ron we recently had solar installed at our house here in University City from Center Solaris it's been an incredible process a great great project and pretty amazing team to work with so we had a lot of things to consider we have you know relatively hefty electricity bills we are very conscious about trying to have a carbon neutral footprint that was something that was important to us and beyond that I think there was an implication of some cost savings and stuff that we were certainly curious about when we started looking into the process so we have a pool we run air conditioning the way that the peak grid hours have changed in the way that they're billing for utilities all that was a big factor in the summertime we'd peak out at five forty five fifty and during kind of the cooler season or the neutral season we'd still be at about three hundred dollars a month I had noticed a summer Solaris sign at one of our neighbors houses and I said I'm gonna check these guys out I like the whole semper five kind of vibe you know military San Diego I called these guys and got some of the most incredible feedback compared to everybody else we were detailed up front every step along the way it was calendared we had one point of contact that helped us through all the different verticals we got a call that said they were all finished it was two days or something really really quick there was never a mess I mean it was really just a professional top to bottom so after we'd had our solar for about a month or two my neighbors had come over and said what do you think about solar and oh my gosh I felt like I was a sales guy for the company I was like let me tell you probably six months later I see us in four Solaris truck in front of the neighbor's house and it's real flattering to me that they took the recommendation at the end of the day beyond just price and information and knowledge the service level was through roof with super solar so I made the decision really really easy [Music].
What Everybody Ought To Know About Solar In 2018Cons:
Not suited for frequent shifters: If you switch your accommodation frequently and travel a lot, the solar energy system is not an option for your electricity needs. It is suited for the people who lives permanently at one place.
Does not suit every type of roof: It's important to check if it's feasible to install solar panels mounting on the rooftop. You need to check the roof's sustainability, roofing materials, age of the roof etc. You have an option of ground mounted solar panels but again the space is a constraint.
Cost: The cost of Solar Power plant is still more and not affordable for large number of families. But with the advanced technologies, we hope the cost will come down soon.

“Is My Electrical Panel Safe?” Solar Is...Interesting California Solar Fact:
Solar cells are priced per watt. In 1977, solar cells were unaffordable for most to purchase and install—costing around $77 per watt!
Solar Economics, Part 1: Photovoltaics Value ChainThe panels are up. The sun is out. No electricity is being produced. Arrrg! Let's talk about some of nominal problems you might run across with your solar panels.Solar panels are so reliable that we are surprised when something actually goes wrong. Temperature fluctuations, severe weather, lightning and static electricity are all examples of things that affect them. Here are some things you might need to know in order to fix your solar panel. If your panels are wired in series-parallel or parallel, then you can test individual panels by covering at least four of the cells in the panel. The output should drop by half or more. If it does not, then that panel is not working. Look for the problem in that panel, or other panels that are wired in series with it. Sometimes, the voltage coming out of the system drops during the hottest part of the day. This is called "Fading in the Heat". A 12-volt photovoltaic module is nominally designed to work well all the way to about 17 or 18 volts at 25 Celsius, so that the 12-volt current will be maintained when the voltage drops at higher temperatures. If the heat fade is more severe than this, it might be caused by weak links in the system, such as poor connections, bad wiring, controller losses or a weak photovoltaic module. You can troubleshoot this by monitoring the current while cooling the array by pouring water over it. If the voltage returns to normal, disconnect the panel from the system and check the open voltage. If it is below 18 volts, then use the shading technique above to test individual modules.Temperature cycling, oxidation and corrosion can affect metal connections. Screws can loosen, metal can warp, and electrical resistance can occur. This all adds up to overheated connections. It is even possible that an electric arc can melt metal and burn insulation. Repair this by replacing all corroded or oxidized metal parts, possibly even bypassing burnt terminals by wiring directly to the metal strip which is connected to the PV cells. Usually, PV modules have a bypass diode in the junction box. This keeps the cells from overheating if they become partially shaded for an extended period of time. Occasionally, lightening can cause a diode to short out and the module's voltage will drop. If the array is 24volt and is unlikely to get sustained partial shading, you can remove the diode. In a 12 volt array, you can remove the diode without bypassing it. In any other situation, replace the diode with a silicon diode. Be certain that the voltage rating is 400 volts or more, and that it has an amp rating at or above the modules maximum current.
The Ugly Truth About Your Electric BillAny discussion regarding the effectiveness of solar power and its efficiency should first of all be qualified by the fact that we're talking here about a technology that is in its relative infancy and is improving all the time. That having been said, it's fair to say that, while massive improvements have been made in the overall efficiency of solar panels, there's still a long way to go.Let's take a look at how solar panels work and get some background as to why this is and what can be done to improve solar panel efficiency. The Secret's In The CellThe solar cell is the basic building block of a solar panel and is where all the action takes place as far as the conversion of sunlight into electricity is concerned. A cell consists of a negative and a positive silicon wafer, which work together in reaction to the sunlight striking them to cause electrons to literally jump out of the wafers to create a DC (Direct Current) electrical circuit. This is known as the photovoltaic (PV) effect. So, even with the best will in the world, 100% efficiency is simply not achievable. Certain techniques are being used to improve cell efficiency, such as reducing reflection loss through surface structuring, or stacked (or tandem) cells, or concentrator cells, so there's plenty of room for optimism for the future efficiency of cells. But, even with the restrictions on the potential efficiency of solar cells, the fact that we're able to produce usable electricity from such an unlimited source of energy as the sun is nothing less than miraculous in and of itself. Add to that the fact that this is clean, renewable energy with no carbon emissions or harmful effects that can reduce and potentially help eliminate our dependence on dangerous fossil fuels and it's clear that solar is a wonderful and effective technology whose time has come.

You can receive free quotes from vetted installers local to you when you register your property on our Solar Marketplace – homeowners who get 3 or more quotes can save thousands on their solar panel installation.
Your Electric Company Doesn't Want You To Read This PostInteresting California Solar Fact:
Solar installation often ranges from $2.87 to $3.85 per watt. The entire installation package cost averages around $16,800, but if you apply tax credits, the total installation will probably sit between $10,045 and $13,475.
More About Solar And Renewable EnergySolar Myth:
Installing solar is quite complicated and requires a lot of maintenance.
Fact: Actually, solar panel installation is relatively straightforward as long as you are using a reliable manufacturer.
Ideally, if your system is connected to your utility grid, which is common among electricity systems, then it makes solar panels easier to maintain. The solar panels would just need to be cleaned with water to remove any accumulated dust or debris or snow that has been trapped on them.
Solar panels are constructed in a way that allows them to withstand harsh weather, including hail, sleet, etc. If you have a battery based system, it will need more cleaning than one without, but systems without batteries are more common and are cheaper than those that have battery systems.
